Today, I wanted to share with you a blog post based on the new journal I have just self-published. As I have mentioned before, the main thing which helps my anxiety is to think about Bible verses. This is the basis for why I created this journal...

When I was younger, my Mum bought me and my sister some revision cards. Instead of using them for revision notes, we chose to write down Bible verses on them. This allowed us to have encouraging verses readily to hand, as we could take them anywhere with us, due to how small and compact they were. It was nice to have them to flick through whenever we wanted to. So I decided to take this concept and turn it into book form.

The Bible Verse Writing Journal combines two concepts:

1. Writing down encouraging Bible verses

2. Writing down the lessons and encouragement we can gain from them.

So now let's have a look at why these two aspects are helpful and important.

In Psalm 119:52 we read: “I remembered thy judgments of old, O LORD; and have comforted myself.”

Here we see that the Psalmist is helped in their struggles by remembering God's word. So too we can be helped by remembering Bible verses too.

When I'm feeling anxious I think about Bible verses to help me to calm down. I can recall these verses because I have memorised them. Writing Bible verses down, is one good way to help us to memorise them, so that we can recite them whenever we are struggling. Also, by writing down encouraging verses this gives us a good variety of verses to read through, whenever we need encouragement.

After writing down Bible verses, it is good and helpful to think about them, rather than just reading them. Therefore, as a result of writing down the lessons and encouragement which we can gain from these verses, we are thinking about the verses and gaining more benefit from them.

Finally, in Romans 15:4 we read: "For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope."

In this verse, we see how God's word does benefit us - it was written "for our learning". It was written to teach us good lessons that we can put into practice in our lives, to help us to improve our characters.
