Today is World Kindness Day...
However, rather than just seeing this term as a popular topic, I wanted to focus on how we can all actively take part in World Kindness Day, and how this day can having some meaning for all of us.
So why did I decide to focus on this topic for this week's blog? Personally, I firmly believe that kindness is really important, especially in today's world. In this week's blog post, I want to focus on why kindness is so helpful and important, and how we can all be involved in World Kindness Day...
Kindness has great benefits which are associated with it such as:
It is easy to do - anyone can do it! There are so many different ways we can show kindness to others, in kind deeds either big or small.
Kindness is free! With the cost of living crisis at the moment, kindness is something which can be shown in many ways which have no cost at all.
Kindness makes people feel better - both for the giver and the recipient of kindness.
It is a way of helping others, and acts of kindness can mean so much to others - they can really make someone's day.
Kindness can be life changing! Even just the simplest act of kindness can make a big difference to someone's life!
These are some of the benefits of showing kindness to others, but I also wanted to share with you the most important reason why I believe kindness is so important.
As a believer of The Bible, in my life I try and follow what the Bible teaches. In the Bible, we see that kindness is a good and important characteristic to develop and one which is pleasing to God.
In Hebrews 13:16 we read: "But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased."
Also, in 2 Corinthians 9:7 we read: "Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver."
These two Bible verses show us how important kindness is, and how that showing kindness is very pleasing to God.
So, before I finish this post, I want to share with you three ways in which we can show kindness to others.
Send your loved ones a card, note or message, or have a phone or video call with them. Taking the time to talk to and encourage others can really help someone and brighten their day.
